Slick City Action Park, an indoor slide and air court park for all ages, is experiencing rapid growth as it announces a significant achievement. 50 locations are either open or in development across the U.S. After launching its franchise opportunities in February with a goal to award 30 territories by the year’s end, Slick City has not only met but surpassed expectations. Slick City awarded 32 franchises ahead of schedule and signed 18 additional corporate leases.
The momentum for Slick City, which boasts a unique waterless slide concept and proprietary slide technology, is a testament to the brand’s innovation and appeal. Since the announcement, the company has received over 1,800 inquiries from prospective franchisees nationwide. Slick City continues to aggressively secure corporate leases in cities across the country, further fueling its rapid expansion.
Building a Franchise with a Unique Approach
CEO and Founder Bron Launsby credits his success to lessons learned from both his corporate career and experience as a franchisee. “At Slick City, our franchisees come first,” said Launsby. “We’re opening corporate locations in tandem to be expert operators ourselves, so that we can use our own experience to better guide our franchisees. This is at the core of our growth strategy and is serving us well as we celebrate this major milestone.”
Launsby’s innovative approach to franchising hasn’t gone unnoticed. He was recently honored with the Innovation Excellence Award from the International Adventure and Trampoline Parks Association (IATP), a recognition that places him among industry giants like Sky Zone’s Jeff Platt and CircusTrix’s Case Lawrence.
Since opening its first location in Denver, CO, Slick City has rapidly expanded with parks in St. Louis, MO, Peoria, AZ, Katy, TX, and Denton, TX. By the end of 2024, six additional locations will be operational, including parks in Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Each new venue ranges in size from 31,000 to 56,000 square feet and is packed with entertainment options, such as expanded food programs, birthday areas, and an evolving lineup of cutting-edge slides and attractions. Slick City is also refining its consideration of construction techniques, aiming to adapt to various building formats, which will help the brand scale faster in the future.
Innovation and All-Ages Appeal
What sets Slick City apart is its unique, all-ages approach. Designed to cater to guests as young as four, the parks are drawing a significant number of adult thrill-seekers as well, with 19% of the brand’s revenue coming from visitors 18 and older—a figure that, according to Slick City, is well above the industry average. The brand’s patented slide technology, now protected by 48 patents globally, ensures that the fun is non-stop, and new attractions are frequently added to keep guests coming back.
The patented slide technology adds enormous value to franchisees, as it creates a barrier to entry for other brands. It also makes it difficult for trampoline-focused brands to add on, such as an offering. We will be interested in seeing how space evolves and how innovation iteratively takes place in the indoor adventure category.
