Brooklyn, NY — Paris Baguette, the popular bakery café concept known for its unique fusion of French and Asian-inspired baked goods, is continuing its expansion with a new location in Brooklyn, slated to open in early 2025. Susana Wu and Donna Wu, lifelong friends and business partners, have secured real estate at 532 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215, and are excited to bring the beloved brand to the Park Slope community.
This new Brooklyn location will join the ranks of 36 other Paris Baguette cafés across New York, contributing to the brand’s growth in North America, where it currently operates over 180 cafés. Globally, Paris Baguette has more than 4,000 locations, and the company is targeting 1,000 U.S. cafés by 2030 as it aims to become a go-to neighborhood bakery café across the country.
From Friendship to Franchisees: A New Chapter in Business
Susana Wu and Donna Wu’s journey to becoming Paris Baguette franchisees is rooted in their strong friendship and shared entrepreneurial spirit. Best friends since they were 16, Susana and Donna are now embarking on a new chapter in their relationship as co-owners of their first Paris Baguette location, alongside their business partner, Ryan Zhao.
Susana, who previously worked in data analytics at Uber, and Donna, an expert in customer service and home kitchen cabinetry design, decided to take a leap into the business world after feeling the desire to create something of their own. Partnering with Zhao, a seasoned restaurant manager and investor, the trio is poised to make a mark on Brooklyn’s dining scene.
“Paris Baguette is very popular in Korea, and they are so creative with the pastries and products,” shared Donna Wu. “But it is not the typical bakery you would find around a primarily Caucasian neighborhood like Brooklyn. It’s great that we can introduce this concept to the community and make it more diverse.”
A New Addition to the Park Slope Community
The opening of Paris Baguette in Park Slope aims to fill a gap in the local market. Set on providing a fresh mix of bakery offerings to an area that the partners believe is underserved in terms of diverse culinary options. Known for its artisan coffee drinks, creative pastries, and signature breads, Paris Baguette offers a taste experience that blends global influences with neighborhood charm. The Brooklyn café is expected to quickly become a community hub where locals can gather over high-quality baked goods and coffee.
This new location also reflects Paris Baguette’s broader mission to revive the concept of a neighborhood bakery café, making it a gathering place that fosters connection. “We’re on a mission to re-establish the neighborhood bakery café as the heart of the community across the U.S., and we’re excited to see Susana and Donna bring this to life in their local trade area,” said Darren Tipton, CEO of Paris Baguette. “In our cafés, we like to say, ‘Happy to see you. Happier to serve you.’ And we know Susana and Donna will wholeheartedly embrace this approach in their neighborhood.”
Empowering “Mompreneurs” and Championing Local Growth
Susana and Donna are embracing their roles as “mompreneurs,” hoping to inspire more minority-owned businesses in their community. They see their Brooklyn venture as a way to show that with determination and a strong support system, it’s possible to achieve dreams against the odds. With plans to expand their presence in the area further, the partners are committed to making Paris Baguette a staple in the local dining scene.
As the anticipation builds for their grand opening in early 2025, the Brooklyn location is set to add a new flavor to the neighborhood, offering a welcoming space for all to enjoy the brand’s beloved bakery creations. The café promises to be a place where locals can savor every moment—whether stopping in for a morning coffee or gathering with friends over a croissant.
