Edible Brands®, the parent company of Edible® (formerly Edible Arrangements®), has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Somia Farid Silber as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Silber steps into the role previously held by her father, Tariq Farid, the founder and longtime leader of the company. This transition marks a new chapter for Edible, aiming to further solidify its position as a leading hybrid retail brand that blends e-commerce with a robust franchise network.
Silber, who served as President of Edible Brands for the past two years, has been pivotal in transforming the brand’s identity, combining digital convenience with physical retail experiences. In her new role as CEO, she is poised to continue that trajectory, focusing on connecting Edible’s digital presence with its extensive brick-and-mortar operations.
“As we move into Edible’s next chapter, my focus is on strengthening the connection between our digital and brick-and-mortar properties to enhance the customer experience,” said Silber. “With more than 25 years of established success and operational expertise, Edible is well-positioned to expand our market presence while continuing to deliver customizable and experience-driven gifts that our current customers and future generations crave.”
Building on a Legacy, Leading with Innovation
Silber’s leadership as President saw Edible making strides in both digital and physical realms. She played a critical role in establishing a dynamic executive team at the company’s new headquarters in Atlanta, driving the development of the Next Gen retail stores. These stores, as reported by Edible, are currently under construction in multiple markets and are designed to offer customers a hands-on, elevated gifting experience.
In addition to retail advancements, Silber significantly expanded Edible’s e-commerce capabilities. Under her leadership, the company launched a one-hour delivery guarantee and partnered with third-party delivery platforms like DoorDash and UberEats. Her focus on innovation extends beyond the core brand to Edible Brands’ subsidiaries such as Netsolace® and BerryDirect®. During this tenure, Silber also introduced FreshFruit.com™—a subscription service delivering premium whole fruits directly to consumers’ doorsteps. These efforts have enabled Edible to remain on of the leaders in the gifting industry while continuously exploring opportunities for growth.
A Vision for the Future
Tariq Farid, who will continue to play a role as partner and CEO of BroadPeak Capital Group, praised Silber’s capabilities and vision for Edible’s future. “Somia’s varied experience and leadership in diverse roles within the company, particularly her achievements as president, have strengthened Edible’s business and positioned the brand for continued growth in its exciting new chapter,” he remarked.
With over 70% of U.S. households able to access Edible’s offerings within an hour, Silber’s leadership is expected to further integrate the company’s online and offline strengths. The brand is evolving beyond its iconic fruit arrangements, embracing a broader spectrum of products like dessert boards, cakes, and fresh flowers, making Edible a modern gifting destination.
Commitment to the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs
Beyond her contributions to Edible, Silber is dedicated to supporting emerging business leaders. A Babson College graduate, she serves on the college’s Board of Trustees and has been involved in launching the Tariq Farid Franchise Institute, an initiative aimed at educating students about franchising and entrepreneurship. Her engagement with Endeavor Atlanta further highlights her commitment to fostering high-impact entrepreneurs across the Southeast.
Silber’s leadership has not gone unnoticed; in 2024, she was recognized by Titan 100 as one of Georgia’s top 100 C-level executives. Retail TouchPoints and Design also named her among the top retail professionals under 40, underscoring her impact in the industry.
With this new leadership transition, Edible is set to continue expanding its market presence while staying true to its roots as a pioneer in the gifting industry. Under Silber’s guidance, the company aims to redefine the modern gifting experience, blending digital innovation with the personal touch of local storefronts.
