In honor of National Literacy Month, Celebree School, a leader in early childhood education, is launching a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood literacy. Starting on National Read a Book Day, September 6, Celebree School encourages families to take a “Literacy Pledge.” The Literacy Pledge is a commitment to read one children’s book daily throughout the month. This initiative not only aims to ignite a love for reading among children but also offers participants a chance to win a year-long book subscription service.
Promoting the Joy of Reading
“With 25 million children unable to read, Celebree is on a mission to ignite a love for reading and make a difference,” said Kristen Miller, Director of Education at Celebree School. “With 90% of a child’s brain developing before the age of five, simple habits like daily reading can dramatically improve vocabulary, comprehension, and academic success.” The launch of this campaign hopes to inspire communities where every child discovers the magic of reading.
The alarming decline in reading scores reported by the Nation’s Report Card from the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) underscores the importance of this initiative. By promoting early literacy, Celebree School aims to provide children with the foundational skills necessary for a successful future.
How to Participate in Celebree Celebrates Literacy
Families are invited to join Celebree School’s literacy campaign by following Celebree School on Instagram and engaging with various posts throughout the month. By commenting on their child’s favorite book, families can enter for a chance to win the grand prize: a one-year subscription to the Literati Book Club, which offers personalized book selections for ages 0-14. Each tagged friend in a post gains an additional entry.
Participants can also visit the Celebree Celebrates Literacy landing page to take the Literacy Pledge. By printing, signing, and sharing the downloadable pledge on social media with the hashtag #CelebreeCelebratesLiteracy, families can earn ten additional entries. The grand prize winner will be announced on October 1, just in time to kick off National Book Month with a new collection of books to explore.
Inspiring Story of a Celebree Student
The power of early literacy is exemplified by Austin Davis, a former student of Celebree School, who recently published his own book, Dogs Vs Bears. After attending Celebree School from infancy through fifth grade, Davis has achieved a 98th percentile reading level among his peers. His family credits Celebree School’s teachers for fostering his early love for reading. For more information on Austin’s book or to purchase a copy, you can find details here: Amazon
“Seeing my son write his own book, which focuses on the team building and inclusion lessons he has learned through experiences like the ones he had at Celebree, has been one of the proudest moments of my life,” said Raoul Davis, Austin’s father. “I credit the incredible support and encouragement he received from Celebree, which has played a huge role in fostering his love for reading and writing.”
Austin Davis will make a guest appearance at Celebree School of Middletown on September 10 for a live reading of his book, sharing his passion for literacy with current students. Throughout September, Celebree Schools across the country will also host book drives, collecting books to donate to local nonprofits and schools in need.
Building a Foundation for Lifelong Learning
Celebree School offers programs for children from six weeks to 12 years old, staying true to its mission to “Grow People Big and Small™.” The school’s curriculum is designed to develop positive social skills and values while allowing children to learn through age-appropriate play, projects, and activities. By addressing the needs of the whole child and family, Celebree School is designed to provide a supportive and nurturing environment that extends beyond the classroom.
